Organizations aiming to protect rare habitat on Prince Edward County’s south shore are making progress to preserve the areas as a natural habitat.
In a press release issued by the South Shore Joint Initiative, it was announced that the Nature Conservancy of Canada in partnership with the Prince Edward Hastings Land Trust have recently purchased the Hudgins-Rose property and its historic log house.
The land will be put into long-term protection.
The Nature Conservancy is also negotiating to buy 135 acres of property near Crown land near Ostrander Point.
The environmental organizations involved want to protect the land from development and have it used for activities like hiking, fishing, and hunting.
