The Trenval Community Futures Development Corporation is putting out the word about some new funding available to rural businesses.
The federal government has committed a total of $100 million to be invested in the country’s economy and a chunk of that is available through FedDev Ontario and the Rural Innovation Initiative-Eastern Ontario.
Successful projects would have to demonstrate sustainability, drive prosperity, job creation through innovation and meet other requirements as well.
Small-to-medium businesses are eligible for cash in two streams, as follows:
– One for the Trenval service area that will focus on transitioning SMEs and communities into the new rural economy. A second stream will support rural Eastern Ontario focusing on accelerating the growth of existing innovation-driven SMEs and will be managed by the Northumberland CFDC. The combined Stream total support to for-profit recipients will not exceed $100,000.
– Rural Innovation Initiative Eastern Ontario – Local Stream is non-repayable performance-based matching funding from $25,000 up to $100,000 transitioning SMEs in Trenval service area to expand business growth and adoption of advanced business innovation processes. Successful recipients may receive up to 50% of eligible costs with a minimum project size of $50,000.
