The long dormant Memorial Arena building will be up for discussion at Monday’s meeting of Belleville city council.
Council has declared the property as surplus to the city’s needs and has put it up for sale. It also directed staff to provide a rough estimate of the costs involved to bring it up to standard as a modern arena facility again.
Staff has done that and council will see a report Monday that shows, in 2017 costs, that it would cost $23,615,000 plus some other unknown costs to gut the building and make it a modern ice facility again.
It also notes that demand for ice time at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre was noticeably down this past season.
That report can be seen here by clicking on “consent items” on agenda and scrolling through.
