Victoria Day weekend did not go as planned for two drivers in Prince Edward County when both were both charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
On May 18, 2019 around 4:00 a.m., Prince Edward OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Loyalist Parkway near Chuckery Hill Road.
The female driver attended the Picton hospital for treatment of minor, non-life-threatening injuries and on speaking with officers an odor of alcohol emitted from her.
Charged was Emma Woodward, a 22-year-old female from Hallowell with impaired operation by drugs.
Woodward was served an appearance notice for the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on June 19, 2019 to answer to the charge.
Her licence was suspended and the vehicle impounded.

Later that day around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to another single motor vehicle collision on County Road 22 just south of County Road 23.
On speaking with the driver, officers detected an odor of alcohol and a roadside screening device was given which resulted in a “FAIL”.
Laurel Coughlin, a 37-year-old female from Quinte West was arrested and charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired.
Coughlin’s licence was suspended and her vehicle impounded.
She will also appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on June 19, 2019 to answer to the charge.
Coughlin sustained no injuries from the collision.
