As council in Prince Edward County looks to head into a priority setting meeting in the near future, David Walcott wanted to make sure further development of Picton Harbour is on that discussion list.
Walcott of the Picton Harbour Development group addressed council during their committee of the whole meeting on Thursday afternoon at Shire Hall.
He told those in council chambers the group is in year three of a five year action plan and have yet to acheive even one item.
Walcott implored council to discuss actions that can be taken to make the waterfront more marketable.
Mayor Steve Ferguson says there is one big challenge facing them and any development in that area.
He says the area is something of a gem and it could contribute economically to the municipality.
Walcott says the area currently has no waterfront amenities but the conditions are set for immediate gains to be made.
He referenced a plan from 2017 that mirrors a 1989 report with nearly identical action plans, that would see the harbour connected to the downtown not only visually but physically.
Council asked staff to make sure the harbour is a point of discussion when they begin their priority setting meeting.
