Another step is being taken toward upgrading the transportation plan for Belleville’s Northeast Industrial Park.
The city has made some progress in dealing with CN Rail regarding rail crossings in preparation to creating bike lanes and multi-use paths in the College Street, Adam Street, University Avenue, and Jamieson Bone Road area.
The city is now applying for a federal grant to help upgrade accessible bus service with improvements at the bus stops and shelters.
Director of Engineering and Development Rod Bovay.
Bovay says there are still three more CN crossings in the area that are under discussion.
The upgrade project in the industrial park was allocated $5 million in the 2013 capital budget.
This was for roads, storm sewer infrastructre, and the installation of multi-use trails and sidewalks.
The first phase of the project, roads and storm sewer infrastructure, was completed in 2017 at a cost of $3 million.
