The hockey season has been over for a few weeks but the Belleville Senators gave a big gift to a group of local charities today.
In partnership with the Ottawa Senators Foundation, the B-Sens have donated $20,000 each to the Trenton and Belleville Memorial Hospital Foundations, Prince Edward Learning Foundation, the Children’s Foundation and the United Way of Hastings Prince Edward.
The money came from the team’s 50/50 ticket sales over the course of the 2018-19 season.
Since the team joined the American Hockey League in 2017-18, it has donated more than $335,000 to various organizations throughout the Quinte Region, with money raised through 50/50 sales, chuck-a-puck and the Senators Golf Classic presented by Shorelines Casino Belleville.
