Belleville’s Anthony Popovich stopped 23 shots to backstop the Guelph Storm over the Saginaw Spirit 3-2 to win game 7 of the OHL’s Western Conference championship.
It’s the second straight series Guelph has come back from a 3 games to 1 deficit.
The former Quinte Red Devil and Wellington Duke has been a workhorse for the Storm appearing in all 18 of their playoff games. He has a 12-5 record with a 2.87 goals against average and a .902 save percentage.
The Storm is coached by former Belleville Bulls coaches George Burnett and Jake Grimes.
Guelph takes on the undefeated Ottawa 67’s in the OHL final for the right to advance to the Memorial Cup.
