Officers with the Lennox and Addington OPP were kept quite busy over the Easter long weekend.
Police were targeting aggressive driving and proper seatbelt use but were on the lookout for other things as well.
The detachment reports they laid the following charges:
- 115 drivers charged with speeding
- 3 Stunt driving charges
- 3 seatbelt charges
- 13 hazardous moving violation charges
- 17 other Highway traffic act charges
- 2 Impaired Driving charges
- 1 Charge under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
- 1 other unrelated criminal charge
- 1 Provincial Offence charge
- 1 driver was given an administrative drivers licence suspension for registering a warn on the roadside alcohol screening instrument
Lennox & Addington County OPP Inspector Scott Semple says he is “thankful that no citizens were killed or injured on our highways this long weekend, and continued traffic enforcement will be a priority for our officers”.
