Loyalist College has received some acknowledgement under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Program.
Representatives from chemical handling company Rillea Technologies, which has partnered with the college, presented Loyalist President Anne Marie Vaughan with a UN Sustainable Development Pin this week, for Loyalist’s work in responsible chemical management.
That work includes responsible removal of one-third of their chemicals from the campus, reducing the risk of fire, injury, illness, or environmental damage, along with making information about remaining chemical hazards easily accessible and developing relevant WHMIS training to be shared with staff and students.
Those issues represent three of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, which were developed by global leaders in 2015, as a blueprint towards having a sustainable planet by 2030.
