It’s a motto the staff of the YMCA and many in the community live by.
No child should be left behind.
The Belleville YMCA kicked off its annual Strong Kids Campaign today (Thursday) in the Avaya building.
The goal this year is $200,000.
This year’s campaign will be led by Ed and Eric Lehtinen, owners of Impacto Protective Products.
Eric Lehtinen said they didn’t want to be out asking the community to donate if they “didn’t put their money where mouth was”.
Last year’s Strong Kids Campaign led by Kelly McKinney beat the goal of $180,000 by raising $184,000.
Strong Kids is a YMCA program that allows the Y to subsidize families who cannot afford memberships or summer camp programs for their children.
Quinte Broadcasting’s Jody Brooker, whose family has been involved with the Y for decades, said Strong Kids helps build strong adults and strong communities.
Also making donations at the kickoff event were the Belleville Y’s Board of Directors, who gave $17,400, the staff donated $10,400 and Mark and Mary Hanley gave $5,000.
