The City of Belleville and surrounding Quinte Region have been noticed as a hub for entrepreneurship.
The Belleville Census Metropolitan Area has been ranked the 10th best area for entrepreneurial presence, in an annual report on entrepreneurial communities, from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.
The Belleville CMA stretches west to Quinte West, east to Shannonville and north to Centre Hastings, scoring highly for its large number of business startups and the economic spinoffs that come from an above average number of businesses per capita.
Entrepreneurial presence is one of three categories used to rank communities overall in the report, with entrepreneurial perspective and policy also factoring in.
Some neighbouring communities that also made the list include Cobourg at 51st, Peterborough at 63rd and Kingston at 108th.
