Two people are facing criminal charges after Northumberland OPP officers on foot patrol noticed a vehicle in a suspicious location.
Police say on March 31, officers were in the area of Rice Lake Drive in Bewdley when they saw a sedan idling for a lengthy period of time in a parking lot of a local business.
The officer noticed there were two people in the car consuming drugs and with an open container of alcohol.
The officers seized drugs, weapons and a substantial amount of Canadian currency.
Nicholas John Moriarty, 28 of Colborne and 43-year-old Tanya Steacy of Brighton are facing possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin), possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition and having liquor in open container in other than licenced premises, residence or private place.
Moriarty is also facing an additional charge of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose charge.
They will both appear in court May 8.
