If the Belleville Senators are going to make the AHL playoffs for the first time they have to win at home. And with 5 of their final six games at the CAA Arena beginning tonight against the Syracuse Crunch, the B-Sens pretty much control their own fate. Belleville boasts a solid home record of 21-8-1-3.
The Sens have a one point lead on Cleveland for the final playoff spot but the Monsters hold a game in hand and play here on Saturday night.
Yesterday saw a swap of defencemen with Andreas Englund called up by Ottawa for the first time this season and Christian Wolanin being re-assigned to Belleville. Wolanin has been with the NHL club since late February.
In 35 games with Belleville Wolanin has 6 goals and 20 assists. In 28 games with Ottawa the rookie defenceman has 4 goals and 8 assists. With the loss of injured defencmen Erik Brannstrom and Cody Goloubef, Wolanin’s return should help the B-Sens power play.
CJBQ ‘s coverage for Deerhaven Farm and Garden and Eastern Overhead Doors begins at 6:50.
