The defending Ontario Junior Hockey League champion Wellington Dukes are one win away from going back to the championship round.
The Dukes depth was on full display as 7 different players scored in their 7-2 rout of North York to go up 3-1 in the South-East Conference final.
Ben Woodhouse and Brett Humberstone set the tone as Wellington took a 2-0 lead in the first period. Tyson Gilmour, Zach Uens, Daniel Panetta, Frank Vitucci and Elijah Gonsalves also scored in the win.
Andrew Rinaldi wasn’t among the 7 scorers but still led the way with 4 assists as the Dukes were 3 for 10 on the power play. Tim Fallowfield had 3 assists.
Wellington coach John Druce said it was a full team effort and needed to be.
The Dukes know a 3-1 series deficit is not insurmountable as they did it in round two against Whitby. That why Druce says wrapping up the series tomorrow night in North York is critical.
If a sixth game is necessary it will be Friday in Wellington.
