Andrew Rinaldi opened the scoring with 6:40 left to play in the opening period, while shorthanded to give the home team the 1-0 lead.
It was short lived, as the Rangers managed to get the puck past Logan Bateman just 39 seconds later.
Wellington regained the lead in the middle frame when Brett Humberstone found the back of the Rangers net. That 2-1 score held into the third period.
North York used the powerplay to their advantage and beat Bateman just 2:52 into the period to tie the game at 2-2.
The Dukes took possession of the lead again less than three minutes later when Dylan Massie got on the score sheet.
North York fought back again and less than 30 seconds later tied the game back up at 3-3.
The score held through regulation, sending the teams to sudden death overtime.
It was a battle and the home team was able to take their fourth and final lead of the game when Ben Woodhouse put the puck behind the Rangers netminder 13:38 into the extra period.
