The Belleville Police Services Board will discuss its 2019 budget at its meeting Tuesday.
As presented, the draft budget shows a net increase of close to 5 percent.
Chief of Police Ron Gignac is suggesting some budget items see an increase to reflect actual cost incurred last year and more money is being set aside for training, body armour, pensions, benefits, and public relations/special events.
Last year, the police budget increased 2.6% and totalled 17.7 million dollars.
