Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health will be hosting a handful of cannabis info sessions at local high schools over the next few weeks.
The health unit says a recent study on Ontario Student Drug Use and Health shows almost 37% of youths have tried cannabis by grade 12 and that both boys and girls are equally likely to try it.
HPE Public Health Officials say they will provide information on the importance of preventing or delaying drug use among youths and are inviting parents, caregivers and students between grades 7 and 12 to take part in the presentations.
Those discussions will touch on the new reality of cannabis, why it is harmful to youths and what parents need to know about the new legislation, as well as information on strategies and community support resources.

March 20, 2019 – Belleville – Eastside Secondary School, 6:30 pm – 7:45 pm
March 21, 2019 – Picton – Prince Edward Collegiate Institute – 6:30 pm – 7:45 pm
March 27, 2019 – Bancroft – North Hastings High School – 6:30 pm – 7:45 pm
April 16, 2019 – Quinte West – St. Paul Catholic Secondary School, 6:30 pm – 7:45 pm
