The residents group Natural Heritage Conservation Prince Edward County isn’t impressed with the response from county council when it comes to protecting the countryside.
At today’s (Thursday) Committee of the Whole meeting Elizabeth Blomme and Bill Bonter will tell council that virtually nothing is being done about the ongoing destruction of fence lines and hedgerows in the county’s rural areas.
Natural Heritage Conservation says fence lines and hedgerows combat soil erosion, ease flooding, connect wildlife and beautify the countryside, making it attractive to visitors.
The group will ask for Official Plan changes and recommendations already in place to actually be implemented.
Prince Edward County council’s Committee of the Whole meets at 1 p.m. this afternoon.
