Plans for a residential apartment building on Belleville’s Dundas Street West will now come under a city planning staff review.
The proposal for Number 2 Dundas Street West is for a six-storey residential building with 29 units and commercial offices on the ground floor.
It is part of a masterplan by the owners to develop three properties 170 Coleman Street, 180 Coleman and 2 Dundas.
The Planning Committee learned this week that 170 Coleman would have six stories of office and six stories residential, and 180 Coleman 15 stories.
Parking for 2 Dundas would be on the Coleman street property.
It would be the first of the three buildings to be built, some work expected to begin this summer.
Some committee members questioned the parking plan.
A report to the committee recommends some of the Brownfields’ cleanup fund be used for the three properties in the “courthouse district development area.”
This money helps with the environmental study.
The cleanup could cost $4 million.
The proposals will come back to the Planning Committee in April, along with a staff report.
They could then be referred on to city council.
