Hastings County has thrown its support behind a proposed new Long Term Care facility in Centre Hastings.
Centre Hastings Mayor Tom Deline told county council on Thursday that “negotiations are proceeding to have a 128-bed Long Term Care facility built in Madoc.”
Deline told Quinte News the municipality owns a six-and-a-half acre serviced lot right behind the fire hall which can be used for that purpose.
He also indicated there is a company interested in buiding the facility.
There is a big need for such a facility, according to Deline.
Deline told council the problem is to get provincial government permission.
He is calling for a show of support by the county, and each of the municipalities.
County council passed a motion to write to the provincial government a letter of support for the facility.
