The Trenton Golden Hawks dropped a tough one last night to the East Division leading Cobourg Cougars 3-2.
It was “pink in the rink night” in Trenton last night. It was also the final home game of the regular season for the Golden Hawks.
Benjamin Allard-Robitaille was in goal for the Hawks who battled back twice from a 2 goal defecit, but with the goaltender pulled in the final minutes they were unable to score the tying goal.
Jeff Lindsay and Tyler Ignazzitto each scored a goal for the Hawks. Jamie Engelbert scored the game winning goal early in the third period for the Cougars. Dershahn Stewart made 37 saves for the win.
With the win last night the Cobourg Cougars clinched the top spot in the East Division and will get the Wellington Dukes in the first round of the OJHL playoffs.
The Golden Hawks will play with Whitby Fury. Home ice advantage is yet to be decided.
The Golden Hawks and Cougars will go at it again today in Cobourg at 3:00 for the OJHL’s game of the week.
On the Junior “C” circuit the Napanee Raiders shut-out the Port Hope Panthers 3-0.
