The Prince Edward County mayor is leading a delegation to the Ontario Good Roads Association conference next week, with a number of questions in his pocket.
The conference, which opens in Toronto on Sunday, offers municipal politicians and officials a number of workshops and access to various provincial government cabinet ministers.
County Mayor Steve Ferguson tells Quinte News he’s hopeful of speaking with a list of ministers, including those for environment, education and transportation.
The County also wants to discuss taking over control of a section of Highway 33 from the province.
Ferguson says the upcoming work on the Skyway Bridge is also worthy of some discussion.
“County Road 49 is certainly becoming a topic of discussion because of the wear and tear it receives and the volume of traffic which is increasing each year, so it’s something we’ve got to talk about, as well as the renovation to the corresponding bridge that’s going to take place. The (provincial) ministry is looking after that but we have to plan ahead for it,” he explained.
