Belleville Police have laid charges against a 49-year-old Belleville man for his involvement in a murder investigation.
Police have charged Fredrick Gordon Howes with one count of first degree murder and one count of breach of recognizance.
He is being held for a bail hearing at 1 p.m. today.
The attack on Murney Street in Belleville took place early yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon.
City police report a man had been injured in an altercation and when they arrived, along with firefighters and paramedics, the man was found without vital signs. He died at the scene.
Witnesses provided a description, and a suspect who was still in the neighbourhood was located and arrested.
Officers have not released the victim’s name as they are continuing to work on locating the next of kin.
The investigation is ongoing.
