The issue of the expansion of Melrose Quarry has been wrapped up in Tyendinaga Township.
Township council voted Tuesday night to withdraw its objection to the company’s plans for a 63-acre expansion of the quarry.
Council had already voted in November of 2018 to approve the rezoning for the expansion.
Clerk Brad Roach explains to Quinte News.
Last year council voted in favour of the rezoning on a 3-2 vote.
Many residents continued to object, with concerns about noise, traffic, pollution and the possible effect on local wells.
