The Steve O’Brien foundation will be partnering with the community of Centre Hastings on May 24th and 25th by organizing a 24-hour relay fundraiser.
The friendly fundraiser is targeting the youth of Centre Hastings with the goal of promoting perseverance, self esteem, teamwork and reaching your goals.
O’Brien is a two time Canadian medalist, a 3-time medalist at the “Worlds” and has competed for Canada numerous times as a runner. To go along with his medals, O’Brien was awarded with carrying the Olympic torch in 2010.
In 2015, O’Brien followed in the foot steps of his hero Terry Fox by travelling 13,225 km across Canada in very unique ways.
Now, O’Brien is passing the baton to help youth across Canada reach their goals.
The 24-hour relay will be taking place at the Madoc & District Recreation Centre. O’Brien urges people from the community to come out, have fun and raise money towards an important cause.
90% of the profits raised will stay in the community of Centre Hastings to help youth in need and improve youth programs. The remaining 10% will go to the Steve O’Brien Foundation.
