Belleville council will be asked to approve more money for a waterfront “pop-up shop” development during 2019 capital budget discussions this week.
Council had already approved $40,000 to build and install four small portable shops along with shipping containers for storage to be ready for this summer at Victoria Park and Freestone Point.
Now, staff is asking for another $110,000 to buy three specially designed shipping containers to add to the four to be ready for the 2020 summer tourist season at the same locations.
Staff says the total $150,000 cost of the “pop-up shop” development should be taken from casino revenues under economic development.
