The Bridge Street bridge in Belleville will continue to be reduced to just two lanes of traffic for at least the next couple of years.
City council will see a staff report describing repairs needed to upgrade the bridge to allow for four lanes of traffic at capital budget discussions this week.
The cost of the work is estimated at 1.3 million dollars. The Bridge Street bridge last had major repairs done to it just four years ago, but issues with the work on the structure forced a two-lane restriction several months ago.
Staff is recommending the upgrades be delayed until 2020 as this year there will be a 22 million dollar upgrade to the Sagonaska Bridge which spans the Moira River at Pinnacle and Station Streets.
