The outbreak of influenza in long term care and retirement homes in Hastings Prince Edward spiked in 2018.
Statistics presented to the Board of Health on Wednesday showed 18 cases last year.
There were close to 1,000 cases of influenza A in Ontario last year, down from 1,750 in the year 2014 to 2015.
Manager of communicable diseases Bill Sherlock told the board H1N1 is the predominant flu strain circulating in Ontario for the 2018-2019 season.
Meanwhile, Sherlock said 2,716 notices have been sent out to students with overdue immunization records.
