The number of crimes committed in the City of Belleville was lower in the last quarter of 2018 than it was in the same period the year before.
A report to the city’s Police Services Board shows that there was a total of 899 crimes committed last September, October, November, and December.
In the last quarter of 2017, there were 1066 crimes dealt with by city police officers.
There were 16% fewer crimes in the period last year.
Meanwhile, the number of assaults in the 4th quarter of last year was down 48% compared to 2017, going to 40 from 69 incidents.
The number of frauds and drug cases were also lower last year.
