Quinte Conservation is continuing their dam operations to make sure there is enough room for the spring melt and by doing so they are reminding the public that as water levels start to lower in the reservoir, the stability of the ice coverage will decline.
Currently dam operations are taking place at Second Depot Lake and Bellrock Dam.
The authority says downstream lakes will see an increase in water levels which may affect the strength of the ice.
Quinte Conservation does not monitor ice for thickness.
