A new detachment commander is set to take over with the Northumberland OPP next month.
Chief Superintendent Rose DiMarco, the OPP’s central region commander, says Brian O’Halloran will take on the lead role in Northumberland effective February 11.
Inspector O’Halloran has been working in policing since 1990, when he started with the Metro Toronto Police Service and has been working with the OPP since 1997.
His various positions have included general patrol, major crimes and others, with a more recent posting as the Deputy Director of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario’s Investigation and Enforcement Bureau.
The 30-plus year resident of Northumberland County is also active in the community helping out with the Port Hope air cadets and as a soccer and hockey coach.
