The Belleville Senators won’t be feeling all that badly being stuck in Utica New York because of a major winter storm.
In a game that had to be played in the afternoon instead of the evening today (Saturday) because of the weather the Senators shook off a bad first 10 minutes and soundly defeated the Utica Comets 5 to 2.
The Comets jumped out to a 2 nothing lead in the first 10 minutes but that burst was to be the last for Utica.
According to CJBQ’s Jack Miller the Senators became a different team after a huge penalty shot stop by their goaltender Marcus Hogberg midway through the first.
By the end of the first the game was tied at 2 all with both goals coming off of the stick of Morgan Klimchuk.
At the end of the second it was Senators 4 Comets 2. What would be the game winner was scored by Darren Archibald.
In a classy move, the third star of the game went to Archibald who’d previously played over 300 games for Utica.
The insurance tally came from Cody Goloubef who’s only been with the team for a week.
Max McCormick scored into an empty net to put the game away. The Senators outshot Utica 29 to 23.
New York State closed all highways at 3 p.m. today (Saturday) because of heavy snowfall and blowing snow.
