Members of the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus have elected a chair and vice chair for the 2019 term.
City of Kawartha Lakes Mayor Andy Letham has been elected chair, while Renfrew County Warden Jennifer Murphy will stay on as vice chair.
Letham succeeds Leeds and Grenville Warden Robin James, who held the role through 2018 and says he’s “honoured to advocate for the 103 municipalities and 750,000 property taxpayers across rural Eastern Ontario”.
As far as priorities for 2019, the EOWC says it will continue to work with the Eastern Ontario Regional Network to bring high speed mobile broadband service to the region, continue to maintain the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund and work with upper levels of government to reduce red tape and regulatory burdens.
