It’s been a “challenging” year in the local real estate business.
According to statistics released by the Quinte District Association of Realtors, sales of all property types last month totalled just under 32 million dollars.
That’s 27% lower than in December of 2017.
Meanwhile, total dollar sales for residential properties totalled just over 28 million last month, down just over 21% from December of 2017. The number of actual residential sales was down as well.
The good news is that the average price of a residential unit was up 4.4% last month from a year ago and up 12% on a year to year basis.
Meanwhile, there were 595 active residential listings at the end of 2018, much higher than the 419 listings at the end of 2017.
