The Belleville Senators will have two re-reinforcements in their lineup just in time to host the AHL leading Charlotte Checkers for two games at the CAA Arena this weekend.
Winger Darren Archibald makes his Belleville debut tonight after being acquired from the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday.
Archibald was a key part of this week’s trade between Ottawa and the Vancouver Canucks which involved a swap of goaltenders. Anders Nillson joins Ottawa while former Belleville Senator Mike McKenna and forward Tom Pyatt go to Vancouver. McKenna and Pyatt are expected to be assigned to the Canucks AHL team in Utica.
Archibald has 11 goals and 5 assists in 23 games with Utica and a goal and assist in 9 games with Vancouver.
Stefan Elliott and Jack Rodewald are back from the Ottawa Senators while Filip Chlapik and Logan Brown return from injuries. Meanwhile Rudolfs Balcers has been called up by Ottawa.
Belleville has won their last four home games and took three out of four points in Charlotte in November. The Checkers are the AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes and coached by former Belleville Bulls defenceman Mike Vellucci.
Game time is 7:05 at the CAA Arena. CJBQ is on the air at 6:50 for Eastern Overhead Doors and Deerhaven Farm and Garden.
