The first baby of the new year in the Quinte region was an early arrival.
Katelynn Patterson and Austin Martin of Trenton welcomed their baby girl Madelyn Martin into the world four weeks early on January 1 at 6:07 a.m.
She weighed in at five pounds.
Two other babies have January 1 birthdays, arriving at 5:18 p.m. and 10:28 p.m.
