The United Way Hastings Prince Edward had some major reasons to smiles, as their Christmas elves at Proctor and Gamble had a big gift Wednesday.
At P&G’s offices on University Avenue in Belleville, company officials and staff handed over a cheque for $465,000. This beats last year’s contribution of $455,000.
The company is the largest contributor to the local United Way.
P&G Plant Manager Joe Folk says supporting the local community is paramount.

Before the donation, the United Way was at 65% of their $2 million goal. Today’s donation makes up 23.25% of the United Way’s entire campaign.
There was a 33% higher payroll deduction from P&G employees over last year.
Major donor Maurice Rollins was also on hand for the announcement. Rollins recognized the many leadership donors who are part of the P&G family.
