The head of the Community Development Council of Quinte says a discussion with the local landlords’ association was extremely successful.
The meeting was intended to give landlords some information on how to support tenants who may be having trouble paying their rent and to limit the number of people being evicted.
Community Development Council of Quinte Executive Director Ruth Ingersoll says the conversation involving the local landlords’ association was meant to be a proactive way to show what supports are available to both sides.
Ingersoll says the landlord group was extremely receptive to the ideas presented and that it was an important conversation to have.
Landlords learned about the picture of poverty in the Quinte Region, the root causes of that and the programs available through both the CDC and Hastings County that are available for tenants and landlords.
