Three members of the Quinte Blades Speedskating Club were among the 100 competitors at the Ontario Eastern Regional meet in Gloucester.
Master skater Paul Pickard led all of his races from start to finish on his way to five first place finishes and a gold medal. Pickard came within three, one-hundredths of a second of his personal best in the 1000 metre Super Final.
Eleven-year-old Brian Hoffman had three personal best times while 8-year-old brother Kevin Hoffman improved his time in both the 100 and 200 metre distance.
Four members of the Quinte Blades will attend the Special Olympics Provincial Winter Games in Sault Ste. Marie next month: skaters Kai Freeland, Adam James and Nicole Ferguson along with coach Laura Woodall.
