Police and Corrections Canada officials have foiled what appears to be an attempt to smuggle drugs into the Bath Institution near Kingston.
OPP say “discussion between someone inside the facility and those on the outside”, led to a significant drug seizure and the arrest of five people near the Kingston-area facility back on November 19.
Investigators seized more than 54 grams of cannabis resin, 170 grams of tobacco and a variety of pills, with an estimated institutional value of $24,000.
A 50-year-old man from Loyalist Township was charged with five counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and two men and two women from the Windsor area were charged with various drug-related offences.

- 5 counts of Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
Joshua ERDODI, aged 31 from Windsor, ON was arrested on November 19, 2018 and charged with:
- Possess, Produce, Sell, Distribute or Import anything with intention to use it to produce, sell or distribute illicit cannabis under Cannabis Act
- 3 counts of Possession of a Substance in Schedule 1 (other than heroin) for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of a Substance in Schedule 1 Opioid (other drug) for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
- Fail to Comply with a Recognizance
Melissa Ann ILER, aged 37, Barbara Anne MONTGOMERY, aged 38, Ryan DUROCHER, aged 40 from Essex, ON and were arrested on November 19, 2018 and charged with:
- Possess, Produce, Sell, Distribute or Import anything with intention to use it to produce, sell or distribute illicit cannabis
- Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
