Despite the best efforts of groups throughout the area many people are still without a family doctor.
Officials at Quinte Health Care, local physicians, and the Hastings Prince Edward Health Unit are making a
special effort to help mothers and their newborn babies.
President of QHC Mary Clare Egberts says that recently it’s become evident that some moms haven’t been able to
get to a doctor for necessary follow-ups in the several days after giving birth.
The situation is improving as QHC Maternal Child staff work with doctors and the health unit to get mothers primary care
for their babies more quickly.
