The Quinte Economic Development Commission is “fairly optimistic” about the future of auto parts companies in the Quinte area, despite the shutdown of General Motors in Oshawa.
Executive Director Chris King was commenting to Quinte News on Wednesday about the past year.
Kings says it was a “positive year for economic development and growth.”
When asked about the impact of the GM shutdown on local auto parts companies he gave this reply.
King says, “Most of the companies are shipping across North America to plants so there will be an impact but not, in the long run, a huge blow to local plants.”
Regarding economic growth in the area, King says, “it’s happening.”
