A five year old movement – called “Giving Tuesday” kicks off the opening day of the giving season, today (Tuesday, November 27, 2018). United Way Hastings & Prince Edward wants to celebrate the importance of strong, inclusive, communities where no one is left behind. It’s a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favorite causes.” Giving Tuesday follows the massive retail initiative of Black Friday and United Way is asking that you remember someone you love on Giving Tuesday. Go to https://give.unitedway.ca/donate/WBELLE. Combined donations totalling up to $5,000 on Giving Tuesday will be fully matched by “Women United” members Cathy Rushton, and Liz Knuude.
Any amount will help and donating on Giving Tuesday will automatically enter you into a draw for a $100 iTunes gift card. Donations stay 100% local – supporting over 70 programs and close to 40 partner agencies.
Consider:
$20 per week provides wood or an oil tank fill up to keep a family warm for the entire winter
$3 per week provides transit pass for a student to get to college for 1month
$5 per week will send a child to camp for 1 week
$20 per week provides baby formula for 1 year
$5 per week provides a year round transportation for a seniors to get their weekly groceries for 1 year
A single donation of $150 will:
-provide food security to (a family of 4 with groceries for a week)
-Provide a warm winter jacket to someone in need
-provide a single mother the essentials needed
