The Belleville Police Services Board made a couple of key approvals at its regular meeting on Tuesday.
The board approved the hiring of three new Auxiliary Constables along with the pre-approval for two new police vehicles.
The new Auxiliary Constables are Matthew Code, Taylor Crawford and Justin Miller and will fill authorized vacant positions that have been open since January of 2018.
The two new vehicles, a pair of fully loaded front line Chevy Tahoes, carry a combined price tag of $133,000 and would replace two other Tahoes that date back to 2004.
Chief Ron Gignac says it was important to get pre-approval because there is a $10,000 savings per vehicle if they place the order now and it also allows for the vehicles to be delivered sooner.
The purchase is part of the standard BPS vehicle replacement schedule.
