Applied Arts Magazine recently recognized the Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board (BoQ RMB) as a winner in three different categories for its 2018 Community Awards Annual. BoQ RMB was selected as a winner for the development of its new brand across multiple products in the Entire Design Series category, for its Discovery Guide in the Public Service Design designation, and for the map series featured within the Discovery Guide as part of the Lifestyle Illustration classification.
Applied Arts maintains the benchmark for creative excellence in Canada and its Community Awards are intended for work created exclusively for use in the entrant’s own town, city, province or territory. Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board was the only destination marketing organization to be recognized in the 2018 Community Awards.
“Our Community Awards are all about big ideas from small places,” said Georges Haroutiun, founder and Art Director of Applied Arts Magazine. “Smaller communities, smaller creative studios, smaller clients, smaller budgets. The work is typically done at a local level. Whatever the smaller, this contest is meant to celebrate all the great work being done by people in every corner of Canada. The Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board is a great example of that.”
“It’s a publication read by more than 46,000 creative professionals,” noted Jen Achilles, BoQ RMB’s Communications Manager. “So, to be recognized outside of our sector by these leaders in the Canadian art community, alongside big names like Cossette, is significant for us. Smaller communities are often underestimated and misconstrued as pools of lesser talent; but to be included in such a renowned publication helps break that stereotype and brings attention to the fact that award-winning excellence exists in populations under 100K like the Bay of Quinte.”
This recognition comes on the heels of the Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board’s win at the Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence in Windsor last month, where their Discovery Guide was named the best tourism publication in the province and where they were also nominated for Tourism Innovator of the Year.
The fall edition of Applied Arts Magazine which contains the Community Awards is available at magazine stands across the country.
