Prince Edward County council is being asked by the Police Service Board to return revenues generated by criminal record checks back to the service.
During their Committee of the Whole meeting at Shire Hall on Thursday afternoon, council heard the funds had been transferred to the Municipality and used to offset the cost of policing a number of years ago after funds had accumulated.
Now, the Board is asking for the revenues generated go back into the control of the Police Service Board, something Mayor Robert Quaiff is in support of.
If passed at their next meeting on November 27, 100% of the funds generated will support special projects and community safety supports.
