A phone tip and subsequent vehicle stop led to weapons charges against two people in Belleville early yesterday (Monday) morning.
City police stopped a vehicle at 2:30 in the morning in the east end and seized a hunting rifle.
Neither of the vehicle’s occupants were legally authorized to possess the gun.
A 39-year-old woman was charged for unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm while on a prohibition order.
A 41-year-old man was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and refusing to provide a breath sample.
The pair, both from Belleville, were held for a show cause hearing.
