The PECI SR GIRLS basketball team won the Bay of Quinte Championship Friday night, with a 52 – 24 win over the Centre Hastings Centurians.
Mikayla Leavitt poured in 25 points to lead the Panthers, with Sidney Davies and Myla Deboef both netting six.
This is the third straight championship for the Panthers.
The girls started the playoffs as the #4 seed and played the role of underdog to perfection.
In the semi-finals, they knocked off the #1 seeded Nicholson Crusaders 55 – 39.
Centre Hastings up ended Saint Theresa in the semis. PECI will host the AA Central Ontario Championships next Thursday.
In the junior game, the Saint Theresa Titans toppled the Bayside Red Devils 54-28.
Both STSS and BSS will represent the junior division at AA COSSA next week.
