The unemployment rate in the Quinte region and surrounding area remains considerably higher than than both the provincial and national rates.
According to Statistics Canada’s latest labour force survey the unemployment rate in the Kingston–Pembroke region was 6.7% in October, down slightly from 6.8% in September.
In October of 2017, our region had an unemployment rate of 5%.
The provincial unemployment rate was 5.6% in October. The national rate was 5.8% which tied a 40 year low.
